Ushachy

Ushachy (Ушачы) is an urban-type settlement of about 5,500 people in Viciebskaja voblasć, located in a lake-rich region south of Polatsk. First mentioned in the 16th century, it was a modest trading settlement. The area is known for its numerous lakes — over 100 within a 20-km radius — making it a popular destination for fishing and nature enthusiasts. Ushachy has a quiet, peaceful atmosphere with very few tourists. The climate is continental: warm summers (17–23°C) and cold winters (−5 to −10°C).

By Plane

Minsk National Airport (MSQ) is about 200 km south. Vitebsk Airport (VTB) is about 160 km southeast.

By Train

Ushachy has no railway station. The nearest station is in Polatsk (50 km north) or Lepel (60 km south), with bus connections.

By Car / Road

From Polatsk, take local roads south — about 50 km (1 hr). Roads are fair. Buses from Polatsk run 1–2 times daily.

The settlement is walkable. A car is needed to reach the lakes.
