Baran

Baran (Барань) is a small industrial town of about 11,000 people in Viciebskaja voblasć, located on the Orsha–Minsk railway line, just 10 km north of Orsha. Founded in the 16th century, it grew as a railway settlement and later developed light industry. Today it's a quiet commuter town with a compact centre and easy access to Orsha's historic attractions. The climate is continental: warm summers (17–23°C) and cold winters (−5 to −10°C).

By Plane

Minsk National Airport (MSQ) is about 200 km southwest. Taxi costs BYN 200–250 (2.5 hr). Alternatively, fly to Vitebsk Airport (VTB, 70 km north).

By Train

Baran has a railway station on the Minsk–Orsha line. Electric trains from Orsha (10 min, BYN 1–2) and trains from Minsk (2.5 hr, BYN 6–10).

By Car / Road

From Orsha, drive north on local roads for about 10 km (10 min). Roads are in fair condition. Buses from Orsha run frequently (15 min).

The town is walkable. Taxis cost BYN 4–6.
