Jasra

Ash Shamālīyah, Bahrain

Why visit Jasra?

Jasra (Arabic: جسرة) is a traditional village in the Northern Governorate of Bahrain, located approximately 18 km west of Manama in the agricultural belt of the Budaiya region. Like its neighbour A'ali, Jasra has a strong tradition of pottery-making and other traditional crafts, though on a smaller scale. The village maintains a quiet, rural character with date-palm groves, small farms, and traditional Bahraini houses interspersed with newer suburban development.

Jasra is not a major tourist destination but offers visitors an authentic glimpse into Bahraini village life. The village is surrounded by agricultural land that produces dates and vegetables, and its pottery workshops continue a craft that has been practised in the area for centuries. The best time to visit is from November to March, when the weather is pleasant for walking through the village and its surrounding farmland.
