Diraz

Why visit Diraz?

Diraz is a village in the Northern Governorate of Bahrain, best known for the Al Diraz Temple, an important Dilmun-era archaeological site. The temple, dating to approximately the 3rd millennium BCE, is one of several ancient religious structures found in the northern villages, reflecting the area's significance as a centre of Dilmun civilisation. The village itself is a quiet residential community with traditional houses and surrounding agricultural land.

Located in the fertile northern belt, Diraz has a relaxed, rural character that contrasts with the urban development of nearby Manama. The temple site is the primary reason for visiting, but the village also offers a glimpse into traditional Bahraini life. The best time to visit is from November to March.
