Why visit Zardab?

Zardab is a small town in central Azerbaijan, serving as the administrative centre of Zərdab District. It is located on the Kura River plain, about 100 km west of Baku. The area is predominantly agricultural, known for cotton, grain, and vegetable farming.

The town was named after the Zərdab region, which historically was part of the Shirvan region of Azerbaijan. During the Soviet period it developed as a centre for cotton processing.

The climate is semi-arid with hot summers reaching 30–35°C and mild winters around 0–5°C. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant times to visit.

Zardab is a small, quiet administrative town with limited infrastructure for visitors. It offers an authentic look at provincial life in central Azerbaijan.

By Plane

The nearest major airport is Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) in Baku, about 100 km east (1.5 hours by car).

By Car / Road

Zardab is on the M2 highway, about 100 km west of Baku and 130 km east of Ganja. Marshrutkas from Baku run regularly, taking about 1.5–2 hours.

The town is compact and walkable. Taxis are available for local trips.
