About Aliabad
Aliabad is a village in the Zaqatala District of north-western Azerbaijan, located on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus Mountains about 10 km north of Zaqatala city. It is one of the largest Avar-populated villages in Azerbaijan and is known for its scenic mountain setting, traditional Avar culture, and proximity to the Caucasus forest.
The climate is mild with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons. The village is at a higher altitude than Zaqatala, making it slightly cooler.
Aliabad offers a glimpse into the multicultural character of north-western Azerbaijan, where Avar traditions, language, and cuisine are distinct from the rest of the country.

Aliabad is a short drive north from Zaqatala city on a paved road. The drive from Zaqatala takes about 15 minutes. A taxi from Zaqatala costs around 5–10 AZN.
