Zayam

Zayam is a village in Shamkir Rayon, northwestern Azerbaijan, located in the Ganja–Qazakh plain near the Lesser Caucasus foothills. The village is agricultural, with vineyards, fruit orchards, and grain farming as the main activities. Zayam is a quiet settlement with no tourist infrastructure. The best time to visit is spring or autumn.

By Plane

Ganja International Airport (KVD), about 50 km east, is the nearest major airport. Travel to Shamkir (40 min by taxi), then onward to Zayam by taxi (20 minutes).

By Car / Road

From Shamkir town, head west on the M2 highway for about 12 km, then turn south. A taxi from Shamkir costs 8–12 AZN.

Zayam is small and walkable. The surrounding farmland is accessible on foot.

• Shamkir accommodation — Zayam has no lodging. Stay in Shamkir (25–80 AZN per night).

A small shop sells basic goods. For a market, go to Shamkir.

• Shamkir (15 km east, 20 min) — German colonial history, the wine factory, and the history museum.
• Duyarli (8 km north, 10 min) — A neighbouring village in Shamkir Rayon.
• Ganja (50 km east, 40 min) — Azerbaijan's second city with historic mosques and the Goygol National Park.
• Qazakh (50 km west, 40 min) — The westernmost rayon of Azerbaijan, near the Georgian border.
