Varxan

Varxan is a village in Saatly Rayon, south-central Azerbaijan, located in the Kur-Araz lowlands. The village is entirely agricultural, with cotton and melon fields dominating the landscape. Life is quiet and traditional; the village sees no tourism. Visitors who make the trip will experience the slow, seasonal rhythm of the Mughan plain. Summers are very hot and dry; spring and autumn are the only sensible times to visit.

By Plane

Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) in Baku, roughly 185 km northeast, is the nearest major airport. Travel to Saatli (2.5 hours by bus or taxi), then onward to Varxan by taxi (10 minutes).

By Car / Road

From Saatli town centre, head east on a local road for roughly 8 km. The road is paved but narrow. A taxi from Saatli costs 5–8 AZN.

Varxan is very small and walkable. Farm tracks lead into the surrounding fields.

A small kiosk sells basics. For a proper market, go to Saatli.

• Saatli (8 km west, 10 min) — District centre with bazaar, museum, and transport.
• Saricalar (5 km west, 7 min) — A neighbouring farming village.
• Sabirabad (20 km northeast, 20 min) — History museum and Kura riverbank.
• Adigun (10 km south, 12 min) — A village near the Kura River.
