Saricalar

Saricalar is a village in Saatly Rayon, south-central Azerbaijan, situated on the flat Mughan plain. The village is agricultural, with cotton, grain, and melon cultivation driving the local economy. Saricalar is a quiet hamlet with no tourist facilities but offers a genuine look at rural life in the Azerbaijani lowlands. Summers are extremely hot; spring and autumn are the only comfortable seasons for travel.

By Plane

Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) in Baku, about 190 km northeast, is the nearest major airport. From Baku, take a bus or taxi to Saatli (2.5 hours), then a short taxi ride to Saricalar (10 minutes).

By Car / Road

From Saatli town centre, head southwest on a local road for roughly 8 km. The road is paved but narrow. A taxi from Saatli costs 5–8 AZN.

Saricalar is tiny and walkable. Surrounding farmland is accessible on foot.

• Village mosque — A small local mosque.

• Walking — Explore the lanes and farmland around the village.

• Saatli restaurants — Return to Saatli for meals (5–12 AZN).

Bring bottled water. Tap water is not safe.

• Saatli accommodation — Saricalar has no lodging. Stay in Saatli, 10 minutes away (25–70 AZN per night).

A small shop sells basic provisions. For a market, go to Saatli.

• Saatli (8 km northeast, 10 min) — The district centre with bazaar, museum, and restaurants.
• Varxan (5 km east, 7 min) — A neighbouring village in Saatly Rayon.
• Sabirabad (25 km northeast, 25 min) — The Sabirabad History Museum and Kura riverbank.
• Adigun (6 km south, 8 min) — Another small farming village near the Kura.
