Khalsa

Khalsa is a village in Oğuz District in north-central Azerbaijan, situated in a forested valley of the Greater Caucasus foothills about 15 km north of Oghuz. The village is small and thinly populated, surrounded by dense woodland and mountain pastures.

Summers are mild (18–26°C), winters cold (−2 to 5°C). The best time to visit is late spring through early autumn.

Ganja International Airport (GNJ) is about 165 km southwest.

By Train

Sheki station about 55 km south.

By Car / Road

From Oghuz, drive 15 km north (30 min). A taxi costs 12–15 AZN. The road may be unpaved in sections.

Walkable. Hiking trails start from the village.

• Caucasus forest — The forest around Khalsa is part of the Greater Caucasus ecosystem, rich in biodiversity.

• Mountain views — The high ridges north of the village offer expansive views.

• Hiking — Unmarked forest trails suitable for day hikes.

• Wildlife spotting — The forests hold deer, wild boar, and various bird species.

There is no restaurant in Khalsa. Homestay meals are available (ask in Oghuz before arriving) or self-cater with supplies from Oghuz.

Khalsa has no shops. Bring all supplies from Oghuz (15 km south).
