Buzeyir

Lerik, Azerbaijan

Why visit Buzeyir?

Buzeyir is a small mountain village in Lerik District in southern Azerbaijan, perched on a hillside in the Talysh Mountains at about 1,300 m elevation. The village offers expansive views across the surrounding valleys and ridges. Buzeyir is part of the Lerik "longevity zone," where a number of residents live past 100 years — a phenomenon attributed to the clean mountain air, pure spring water, and simple lifestyle.

The village is home to a Talysh community that maintains traditional mountain farming practices: livestock herding, walnut cultivation, and beekeeping. Summer temperatures are mild (18–25°C); winter sees snow and frost (0–5°C). The best visiting months are June–September.
