Sus

Laçın, Azerbaijan

Why visit Sus?

Sus is a village in the Laçın District of south-western Azerbaijan, in the Lesser Caucasus mountains, in the Hakari River basin. The district was under Armenian control from 1992 until Azerbaijan regained full sovereignty over it in August 2022, following the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War ceasefire and the later closure of the "Lachin corridor," and was heavily depopulated during that period. Sus is one of the first villages rebuilt and repopulated under Azerbaijan's "Great Return" resettlement program, alongside Laçın city, Talış, and Zabux; families of former internally displaced residents began moving back from 2023. As a young resettlement community, it has no verified guesthouses, restaurants, or other visitor-facing businesses as of this writing.
