Lachin
Laçın, Azerbaijan
Why visit Lachin?
Lachin is a town and the administrative centre of the Laçın District in south-western Azerbaijan. It lies in the Lesser Caucasus mountains along the Hakari River valley. The town is historically significant as it sat on the route connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia. Lachin was under Armenian control from 1992 until 2020, when it was returned to Azerbaijan per the ceasefire agreement. The town's name means "falcon" in Azerbaijani. The area is now undergoing reconstruction and repopulation.
