Qarakhanbayli
Füzuli, Azerbaijan
Why visit Qarakhanbayli?
Qaraxanbəyli (Qarakhanbayli) is a village in the Füzuli District of south-western Azerbaijan, in the lowland plains near the Aras River. Unlike most places in this corpus, it is currently uninhabited: it lay on the Armenian-controlled side of the line of contact for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict for over 25 years and was retaken by the Azerbaijani army during the Aras Valley campaign on 27 September 2020, in the Second Karabakh War. As of the most recent available records, the village has no resident population and sits within the wider post-war reconstruction and demining zone rather than functioning as an active settlement.
