Birinci Ashiqli

Birinci Ashiqli is a village in the Beyləqan district of south-central Azerbaijan, situated approximately 20 km west of Beylagan town. Its name translates from Azerbaijani as "First Ashiqli", indicating it is the primary of two eponymous settlements in the area. The village lies in the flat agricultural expanse of the Kura-Araz lowlands, where cotton and grain farming dominate the local economy.

The climate is continental and semi-arid: very hot summers (34–40 °C), mild winters (0–8 °C), with most rainfall occurring in spring and autumn.

Ganja International Airport (GNJ) is about 150 km northwest. From Ganja, travel to Beylagan first (bus or taxi), then onward to Birinci Ashiqli.

By Train

The nearest railway station is Imishli, 55 km south. Taxis from Imishli to Birinci Ashiqli via Beylagan cost approximately 25–35 AZN.

By Car / Road

From Beylagan, drive west on the local road toward the Füzuli direction. The journey is about 20 km and 25 minutes. A taxi from Beylagan costs 10–15 AZN.

Birinci Ashiqli is a small village and walkable on foot. Getting to other settlements requires a private vehicle or taxi.

• Kura-Araz Lowland Landscape — Endless flat agricultural fields punctuated by irrigation canals and scattered trees — a classic view of the Azerbaijani countryside.

• Village Architecture — Modest stone houses with courtyards, typical of the region's rural building tradition.

• Walk the village and surrounding farm roads to experience the quiet of the Azerbaijani plains.

• Visit the Baylakan site (25 km east) or Füzuli (30 km west) as day trips.

No restaurants in the village. Meals are available through homestays if pre-arranged. The nearest restaurants are in Beylagan.

Azerbaijani tea is offered in any private home. Bottled water is recommended.

No visitor shopping. The Beylagan market (20 km east) has fresh produce and household goods.
