Nesh

Nesh is a settlement in Kandahār province, Afghanistan. Located in a mountainous region, it serves as a local administrative and market centre for surrounding villages. The area has a continental climate with cold winters and warm summers. Agriculture, including wheat, fruits, and livestock, is the mainstay of the local economy.

Kandahar is Afghanistan's second-largest city and its spiritual heartland. The Shrine of the Cloak of the Prophet Muhammad (Kherqa Sharif) is the city's holiest site. Walking and hiking through the surrounding countryside and valleys are the primary activities. Explore the old city's bazaar quarter for traditional Afghan carpets and pomegranates. Visit the vineyards and orchards of the Arghandab valley.

Small local eateries serve Afghan staples such as naan (flatbread), rice dishes (pulao, chalau), kebabs (kofta, tikka), and hearty stews (qorma). Mantu (dumplings) and ashak (leek-filled pasta) are also common. Tea is the universal accompaniment to every meal.

Green tea (chai sabz) is the standard drink throughout Afghanistan, served with sugar and sometimes cardamom. Fresh fruit juices may be available seasonally. Alcohol is not available in public establishments. Bottled or treated water is strongly recommended for visitors.
