Best season

October to March is the pleasant, cooler window across Coorg, Ooty and Mysore. December nights in the hills can be chilly, so pack a light jacket.

Two states, one loop

The route crosses from Karnataka (Bangalore, Coorg, Mysore) into Tamil Nadu (Ooty) and back. Roads through Bandipur close to traffic at night for wildlife protection, so daytime crossings are planned.

Pace and driving times

This is a road-trip itinerary with a few longer hill drives, especially Coorg to Ooty via Bandipur. Mornings start early to make the most of each day's sightseeing.
