About Wedza

Wedza is a small town in southern Mashonaland East, approximately 100 km south-east of Harare. The area is named after the prominent Wedza Mountain, a granite inselberg that rises dramatically from the surrounding Highveld. The mountain is a landmark visible from afar and has spiritual significance for the local Shona communities. The district is agricultural, producing maize, tobacco, and cotton.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Harare (HRE), 100 km north-west (1.5 hours by road).

By Train

No passenger train service.

By Car / Road

Wedza is 100 km south-east of Harare via Marondera (1.5 hours). The road is tarred. Minibus kombis from Marondera serve the route.

The town is walkable. A vehicle is useful for reaching Wedza Mountain.
