Razih

Şāʻdah, Yemen

Why visit Razih?

Razih is a district in Sa'dah Governorate, Yemen, located in the highlands near the Saudi border. It is a remote mountainous area of stone villages and steep, terraced farmland, receiving significantly more rainfall than most of Sa'dah Governorate. Razih is one of the traditional coffee-growing districts of the region, part of a small-farmer coffee cooperative that cultivates coffee on narrow terraces cut into arid mountain slopes, with bore holes dug by hand to water individual trees where rain alone is insufficient. Security in the governorate is extremely fragile.
