About Wadi Dawan

Wadi Dawan (also spelled Doan or Daw'an) is a dramatic valley in Hadhramawt Governorate, Yemen, running south from the Hadhramaut Plateau toward the coast. It is one of the most scenically spectacular areas in Yemen, with towering canyon walls, lush wadi-bottom farms, and traditional mud-brick villages clinging to the slopes. The valley is famous for its honey production — Wadi Dawan honey is considered among the finest in the world. The area is also known for traditional arts, including silver jewellery and weaving. The climate is extremely hot in summer; November to March is the best time to visit. The valley was traditionally one of the most difficult to access, but a road now connects it to Seiyun and Mukalla.
