Mukayras
Al Bayḑā’, Yemen
About Mukayras
Mukayras is a town and district centre in eastern Al Bayda' Governorate, Yemen, located at a high elevation in the southern highlands. Its altitude gives it a notably temperate climate, cooler than much of Yemen, with even occasional frost in winter. The town is surrounded by terraced fields and fruit orchards — apples, apricots, and pomegranates thrive in the mild conditions. Mukayras serves as a market centre for the surrounding rural population. The security situation has been affected by the civil war, with periods of Houthi control. The best time to visit is during the fruit harvest season (August–October) when the climate is at its most pleasant.
