About Binh Tan

Binh Tan (Vietnamese: Bình Tân) is a rural district (huyện) of Vĩnh Long Province in the Mekong Delta region of southern Vietnam. The district covers an area of approximately 153 km² and had a population of about 93,800 as of 2009. Its administrative capital is the town of Tan Quoi. Binh Tan is located in the western part of Vĩnh Long Province, bordered by the Hau River (a main branch of the Mekong) to the west, and shares a boundary with Cần Thơ city. The district is primarily agricultural, with rice cultivation, fruit orchards, and freshwater aquaculture as the main economic activities.

The climate is tropical monsoon, with a dry season from November to April and a rainy season from May to October. The dry season is the best time to visit.

By Plane

Can Tho International Airport (VCA) is the nearest airport, about 25 km south of Tan Quoi. A taxi to Binh Tan costs around 200,000–300,000 dong.

By Train

By Car / Road

Binh Tan is accessible via National Highway 54 and provincial roads. It is about 40 km west of Vĩnh Long city and about 25 km north of Cần Thơ city centre. Buses from Vĩnh Long and Can Tho serve Tan Quoi town.

Motorbike taxis (xe ôm) are the most practical transport. The district's rural roads are suitable for cycling.
