About Ba Che
Ba Chẽ is a rural district in Quảng Ninh province, located in the mountainous interior about 70 km northeast of Hạ Long. With a population of only about 17,000, it is one of the least populated districts in the province. Ba Chẽ covers an area of 577 km² and is characterised by forested mountains, rivers, and a predominantly Dao and Kinh population.
The district capital is Ba Chẽ town, a small settlement that serves as a trading hub for the surrounding ethnic minority villages. The district's economy is based on forestry, with timber, star anise, and forest products being the main outputs. Ba Chẽ is known for its golden camellia tea (trà hoa vàng), a prized local specialty with medicinal properties.
Ba Chẽ has a temperate climate influenced by its inland, forested location. The best time to visit is autumn (September–November) when the weather is dry and cool.
