Cam My

Cam My is a district in east-central Đồng Nai province, located about 50 km east of Bien Hoa along National Highway 1A. The district is a significant agricultural area, known for its extensive rubber plantations, cashew orchards, and fruit farms. Cam My town serves as the district's commercial and administrative hub.

The area was developed during the French colonial period for rubber cultivation, and the legacy of large rubber estates continues to shape the landscape. In recent decades, cashew and fruit production have become increasingly important. Cam My retains a tranquil rural character, with long stretches of rubber trees lining the roads and a slower pace of life than the industrialised areas of southern Đồng Nai.

The climate is tropical monsoon with a dry season from November to April and a rainy season from May to October. Temperatures average 25–35°C year-round.

The nearest airport is Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City, approximately 75 km west. A taxi costs 550,000–750,000 dong and takes 1–1.5 hours.

By Car / Road

Cam My is on National Highway 1A, easily accessible from Bien Hoa (50 km, 50 min) and Ho Chi Minh City (75 km, 1.5 hr). Buses running between Bien Hoa and Phan Thiết pass through Cam My.

The district centre is compact and walkable. Taxis and xe om are available for local trips. Renting a motorbike is the best way to explore the surrounding rubber plantations and countryside.

Rubber Plantations — Vast estates of rubber trees stretching across the district, with the distinctive diagonal tapping cuts and collection cups visible in the early morning.

Cam My Market — The lively central market where locals sell fresh produce, cashew nuts, and household goods.

Cashew Orchards — Large cashew nut plantations, interesting to visit during harvest season (February–April).

Suối Tre Eco-Tourism Area — A natural stream area with bamboo groves and picnic spots, popular among local visitors.

Visit a rubber plantation in the early morning to see the latex tapping process. Tour a cashew processing facility to learn how cashew nuts are harvested and prepared. Cycle through the rural roads past orchards and estates. Shop at the local market for fresh produce.

Bánh căn — Mini savoury pancakes made with rice flour and topped with shrimp or squid, a Southern Vietnamese specialty available at local stalls.

Hủ tiếu — Pork and seafood noodle soup, available at market stalls and small restaurants.

Cashew chicken — Stir-fried chicken with locally grown cashew nuts, a popular dish at local eateries.

Fresh coconut water and sugarcane juice are widely available. Vietnamese iced coffee is served at roadside cafés along Highway 1A.

• Upscale: No upscale options; most visitors stay in Bien Hoa.

Cam My is an excellent place to buy fresh cashew nuts and rubber products. The market also offers tropical fruits, dried goods, and locally produced honey.
