About Thoi Lai

Thoi Lai is a rural district in the southern part of Cần Thơ municipality, established in 2009 from the southern portion of Co Do district. It covers 256 km² and had a population of approximately 147,500 as of 2018. The district capital is the town of Thới Lai. It is divided into 13 communes and one township: Thoi Thanh, Tan Thanh, Dinh Mon, Truong Thanh, Truong Xuan, Truong Xuan A, Truong Xuan B, Truong Thang, Xuan Thang, Thoi Tan, Dong Binh, and Dong Thuan.

Thoi Lai is a predominantly agricultural district with rice farming, fruit orchards, and fishing as the main economic activities. The landscape is dominated by rice paddies, canals, and traditional wooden stilt houses. The district borders Phong Dien to the east, Co Do to the north and west, and Hậu Giang province to the south. It offers one of the most authentic rural experiences in the greater Cần Thơ area, with minimal tourist infrastructure but genuine local hospitality.

The climate is tropical monsoon: dry season November–April, wet season May–October. The best travel months are December through March.
