Tien Du
Bắc Ninh, Viet Nam
Why visit Tien Du?
Tiên Du is a former rural district in west-central Bắc Ninh Province, located in the Red River Delta about 25 km northeast of Hanoi. Covering 95.6 km² with a population of approximately 196,000 (2021), the district capital is the township of Lim. Known as "Fairyland" (Tiên Hương) in Vietnamese lore, Tiên Du is most famous for the Lim Festival (Hội Lim), the largest and most important Quan họ folk singing festival in Vietnam. The district was historically part of Võ Ninh canton and has a rich cultural heritage tied to the Kinh Bắc region's traditional music and crafts.
Tiên Du has a humid subtropical climate with hot, rainy summers and cool, dry winters. The best time to visit is during the Lim Festival (13th day of the first lunar month, typically February) or in autumn (October–November).
