About Phuoc Long
Phước Long is a rural district in central Bạc Liêu Province, located approximately 20 km west of Bạc Liêu city. The district capital is the township of Phước Long. The area is agricultural, dominated by rice paddies, shrimp ponds, and fruit orchards typical of the Mekong Delta. The population includes Kinh Vietnamese and a significant Khmer Krom minority, whose cultural influence is visible in the local Buddhist wats. The district sits on the flat, canal-crossed terrain that defines the delta, with waterways serving as both transport corridors and irrigation lines. The economy is primarily based on rice farming and brackish-water shrimp aquaculture.
