About Hoa Vang
Hoa Vang is the sole rural district (huyện) of Da Nang municipality, covering a vast 708 km² of mountains, foothills, and agricultural plains — by far the largest district in Da Nang by area. It wraps around the western and southern edges of the urban districts, stretching from the Hai Van Pass in the north to the Quảng Nam border in the south. The population was about 200,000 as of 2018, spread across 11 rural communes.
The district's character is predominantly agricultural and forested. It is home to the Bà Nà Hills mountain resort, which is the most popular day-trip destination in central Vietnam. The foothills produce rice, vegetables, and tropical fruits for the Da Nang market. The climate varies significantly with elevation: the lowlands are hot and humid year-round (25–35°C), while Bà Nà summit (1,487 m) is often cool and misty (15–22°C). The rainy season (September–January) can make mountain roads slick and foggy, but the rest of the year is ideal for hill-station visits.

By Plane
Da Nang International Airport (DAD) is 15–25 km from most of Hoa Vang's communes, depending on which part of the district — 20–40 min by taxi. A taxi to the Ba Na Hills cable car station costs about 300,000–400,000 VND.
By Train
Da Nang Railway Station is 12 km east of the district centre. The Reunification Express stops at Da Nang; from there, local buses and taxis head into Hoa Vang. The Lien Chieu station (minor) serves western Hoa Vang.
By Car / Road
Hoa Vang is traversed east–west by National Highway 14B (connecting Da Nang to the Central Highlands) and north–south by the Hai Van Tunnel approach. The Ba Na Hills access road branches off Highway 14B at the Hòa Ninh commune junction. Local buses from Da Nang city centre (lines 7, 9, 13) reach the main communes. Driving from Da Nang to the Ba Na cable car station takes about 1 hour.
A motorbike or car is essential for exploring Hoa Vang's wide rural area. Grab cars operate but are scarce once you leave the main highways. Rental motorbikes from Da Nang (150,000–200,000 VND/day) are the best option for visiting rural communes and mountain roads. Ba Na Hills has its own shuttle bus from the cable car parking area to the summit.
