About Balta
is a small town of 73 people in the region of So close, yet so far away: Balta is located about 16 miles south of the geographical center of North America. That distinction goes to , the county seat. Originally, the town was named Egan, in honor of Egan Pierce, an official with the Soo Line railroad.
