Kiruhura is a town in the Ankole region of western Uganda, serving as the administrative headquarters of Kiruhura District. The area is classic Ankole cattle country — vast rolling ranches with long-horned Ankole cattle. The district has a number of large private ranches and is also home to President Yoweri Museveni's personal ranch (Mara).

The Banyankole people are the dominant ethnic group, and Runyankore is the primary language.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Entebbe International Airport (EBB IATA), about 250 km east.

By Train

There is no passenger train service to Kiruhura.

By Car / Road

Matatus from Mbarara, Lyantonde, and Kampala pass through Kiruhura. The main Kampala–Mbarara highway runs through the district.

Boda-bodas are the main local transport. The town is small and walkable.
