Acigol

Acıgöl is a town in Nevşehir Province, about 20 km southwest of Nevşehir city. The name means "bitter lake" in Turkish, though the lake itself is a seasonal salt lake. The town is a quiet agricultural settlement with a population of around 6,000, serving as a gateway to the southern Cappadocian region.

The climate is continental with hot summers and cold winters. Spring and autumn are the best times. The town is small and quiet, offering a more authentic rural Turkish experience.

No railway. The nearest station is in Kayseri (110 km east).

Acıgöl is on the D300 highway between Nevşehir (20 min) and Aksaray (30 min). Minibuses pass through regularly.

The town is walkable. A vehicle is needed to explore the surrounding area.
