Pehlivankoy

Kırklareli, Turkey

Why visit Pehlivankoy?

Pehlivanköy is a small district town in western Kırklareli Province built around a historically significant railway junction. Its station, opened in 1873 by the Chemins de fer Orientaux (Rumeli Railway) company, sits on the Istanbul (Sirkeci)–Edirne–Europe main line and is the starting point of the branch to Svilengrad, Bulgaria — one of only two rail routes connecting Turkey to Europe, and still an important freight corridor today.
