Aranguez

San Juan-Laventille, Trinidad and Tobago

Why visit Aranguez?

Aranguez is a suburban community in the San Juan-Laventille region of Trinidad, located east of San Juan along the Eastern Main Road. The community is best known for the Aranguez Savannah, a large open green space that serves as a venue for outdoor events, sports, and community gatherings. Aranguez has a population of around 10,000 and is predominantly Indo-Trinidadian, with Hindu temples and cultural traditions reflecting the community's heritage.

The community sits on the flat Caroni Plain, with the Northern Range visible to the north. Aranguez has a more suburban, residential character compared to the denser urban communities of San Juan and Barataria, with many single-family homes and quieter streets. The Aranguez Savannah — a large grassy field — is the community's centrepiece and a popular gathering spot for sports, kite-flying, and community events. The climate is tropical — dry from January to May, rainy from June to December — with temperatures between 25–32°C.
