About In Buri
In Buri (อินทร์บุรี) is the northernmost district of Sing Buri Province in central Thailand. It was established as a major mueang (city-state) in 1369 during the reign of King Ramesuan of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, serving as a vital northern frontier outpost. Because of its strategic importance, the governor of In Buri was traditionally a member of the royal family. The city was downgraded from provincial status to a district in 1895 under the thesaphiban administrative reforms of King Rama V.
Today In Buri functions as a quiet agricultural district covering 314 km², with the Chao Phraya River forming part of its eastern boundary. The area is known for rice farming, fruit orchards, and a laid-back rural character. The district seat is a small town with a central market, local temples, and a distinctly unhurried pace that appeals to travellers seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience.
The climate follows the Central Thailand pattern: hot season March–May, rainy season June–October, and cool season November–February. The cool season is the most pleasant time to visit.
