Sai Yok National Park
Kanchanaburi, Thailand
About Sai Yok National Park
Sai Yok National Park is a protected area in western Kanchanaburi Province, stretching along the Myanmar border and encompassing a rugged landscape of limestone karsts, caves, and river valleys. Established as Thailand's third national park in 1980, it covers approximately 500 km² of the Western Forest Complex. The park is best known for the Sai Yok Waterfall — made famous by the film Bridge on the River Kwai — but offers much more for nature enthusiasts: extensive cave systems, scenic river views along the Khwae Noi River, and diverse wildlife including Asian elephants, gibbons, and hornbills.
The park's climate follows the tropical pattern: hot (February–April), wet (May–October), and cool (November–January). The cool season is ideal for hiking and sightseeing. The rainy season brings stronger waterfall flow but can make trails slippery. The park is accessible year-round.
