Why visit Khun Chae National Park?

Khun Chae National Park (อุทยานแห่งชาติขุนแจ) is a rugged national park in Chiang Rai Province, located in the Khun Tan Range about 100 km north-east of Chiang Mai. Established in 1995, it covers 270 km² in the Wiang Pa Pao district. The park is home to the Khun Tan Range's highest peak, Doi Lang Ka (also called Doi Mae Tho) at 2,031 m. The park adjoins three other national parks: Chae Son, Mae Takhrai, and Si Lanna.

The park features high mountains, steep valleys, multi-tier waterfalls, and a giant ficus tree covering over 1,600 m² near the park headquarters. The best time to visit is during the cool season from November to February. Mornings can be cold, with sea-of-clouds views from the peaks.
