Dalin (大林) is a small town in northern Chiayi County, Taiwan, known for its historic train station and traditional rice farming. The town has a quiet, rural character with a well-preserved old street and several historic buildings dating from the Japanese colonial era. Dalin's economy is based on agriculture, particularly rice cultivation.
The climate is tropical monsoon with hot summers and mild winters. October to March are the best months to visit. Dalin is compact and centred around its TRA station.

By Plane
The nearest airport is Chiayi Airport (CYI), about 30 km south. A taxi costs around NT$700–900 and takes about 35 minutes.
By Train
Dalin Station (大林車站) is on the TRA west coast line, served by local and express trains. From Chiayi Station, the journey takes about 15 minutes (NT$30–50). From Taipei, take a train to Chiayi and transfer.
By Car / Road
Dalin is accessible via Freeway 1 (Dalin exit) and Provincial Highway 1. From Chiayi City, drive north for about 20 minutes. Buses connect Dalin to Chiayi City and surrounding towns.
The town is walkable. For exploring the surrounding rural areas, a bicycle or car is recommended. Taxis are limited.
