About Beidou
Beidou (北斗) is a historic township in southern Changhua County, Taiwan. Established during the Qing dynasty as a major river port on the Zhuoshui River, Beidou was once one of the most important commercial centres in central Taiwan. Though the river trade has long since declined, the town retains a charming old quarter with traditional architecture and a reputation for excellent local food.
Beidou has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The best time to visit is from October to March. The town is compact and easily explored on foot, with most points of interest clustered around the historic old street and the Mazu temple.
