How to reach

Muros is accessible by road and public transport from Santiago de Compostela and other Galician cities. Regional buses connect the town to the provincial capitals, and driving via the AP-9 motorway or well-maintained secondary roads is the most flexible option. The nearest airport is Santiago de Compostela (SCQ), approximately 60–90 minutes by car from most destinations in the region.

The town is compact and walkable. For exploring the surrounding area, a car is recommended to reach beaches, natural parks, and neighbouring villages. Local bus services operate within the town and to nearby destinations.

Things to do

Muros features a historic centre with traditional Galician architecture, stone churches, and charming plazas. The main church or cathedral, if present, is the focal point of the old town. Look for pazos (traditional Galician manor houses) and hórreos (raised granaries) that characterise the region's rural architectural heritage.

Activities in and around Muros include coastal walks along the rías, hiking in nearby natural areas, visiting local seafood markets and restaurants, and exploring traditional fishing villages. The area is known for its beautiful beaches and water sports during summer. Wine tasting tours are available in the surrounding vineyard regions.

Cafes & Nightlife

The local drink of choice is Albariño, a crisp white wine from the Rías Baixas region that pairs perfectly with seafood. Ribeiro and Ribeira Sacra wines are also excellent. Queimada is a traditional Galician alcoholic punch made from orujo (grape marc spirit), sugar, lemon, and coffee beans, traditionally prepared with a ritual incantation. Local cider (sidra) is also popular in some areas.
