Puerto del Rosario
Canarias, Spain
Why visit Puerto del Rosario?
Puerto del Rosario is the capital of Fuerteventura, a relaxed port city and transport hub that serves as the gateway for most visitors arriving by air. While less touristy than Corralejo or Caleta de Fuste, it has a pleasant seafront promenade, a good selection of restaurants, and several museums worth visiting.

By Plane
The nearest airport depends on the island (TFS, TFN, ACE, LPA, FUE, SPC, VDE, GMZ). Taxis and car hire are available at all airports.
By Car / Road
Hire car is the most practical way to explore. Roads are well maintained, though some interior routes are winding and narrow. Free parking is generally available outside town centres.
Within towns, walking is the best option. For inter-town travel, public guaguas (buses) are reliable and affordable. Taxis are metered and available in larger towns. Car hire offers the most flexibility for exploring the island.
What are the things to do?
Casa Museo de Unamuno — the house where the Spanish philosopher Miguel de Unamuno lived in exile in 1924, now a museum.
Puerto de la Luz — the working fishing port and marina, a pleasant area for a stroll.
Plaza de la Constitución — the town's main square with a statue of Unamuno.
Museo de la Sal (Salt Museum) — located 5 km north in Las Salinas del Carmen, showcasing Fuerteventura's salt-harvesting tradition.
Stroll along the Avenida Marítima waterfront promenade.
Explore the nearby beaches: Playa Blanca and Playa de los Pozos.
Take a day trip to the Isla de Lobos from the harbour.
