Why visit?

Gedo is a region in southwestern Somalia, stretching along the Ethiopian and Kenyan borders. The Jubba River runs through the region, creating a fertile corridor that supports agriculture in an otherwise semi-arid landscape. The region's varied geography includes riverine forests, acacia savannah, and dry plains.

The administrative capital, Garbahaarey, serves as the commercial and administrative centre. The presence of the Jubba River makes Gedo one of Somalia's more agriculturally productive regions, producing fruits, vegetables, and grains.

When is the best time to visit?

The dry season from December to March offers the most accessible travel conditions. The river is at its most impressive during the rainy seasons (April to June and October to November). February and March are the hottest months.
