Hutuna is a village on the southern coast of Rennell Island in Rennell and Bellona Province, Solomon Islands. Located on the opposite side of the island from Lake Tegano, Hutuna faces the open Coral Sea. The village is one of the traditional communities on Rennell Island, where the local population maintains a subsistence lifestyle based on fishing in the ocean and gardening in the fertile limestone soils. The south coast features dramatic cliffs and blowholes where wave action has carved the limestone shoreline. The climate is tropical, warm year-round, with a wet season from November to March.

How do you get there?

By Plane

The nearest airport is Tigoa Airport (IATA: RNN) on Rennell Island, served by Solomon Airlines from Honiara. From Tigoa, Hutuna is about 15 km southeast by truck along the island's rough road.

By Car / Road

A rough track crosses the island from Tigoa to the south coast. Trucks provide irregular transport. The journey from Tigoa takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Hutuna village is walkable. The south coast can be explored on foot along the beach and cliff tops.
