About Pezinok
Pezinok is a historic town at the foot of the Little Carpathians, about 20 km northeast of Bratislava. With a population of approximately 23,000, it is the largest town in Slovakia's premier wine-growing region and an increasingly popular day-trip destination from the capital. The town's medieval core, dominated by a Renaissance castle and a beautiful main square, is surrounded by vineyards that climb the slopes of the Little Carpathians.
Pezinok's wine heritage dates back to the 13th century, when Cistercian monks established vineyards here. Today the town is the heart of the Malokarpatská (Little Carpathian) wine region, famous for its Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, and Pinot Blanc. The annual Pezinok Wine Festival in September draws thousands of visitors for tastings, folk music, and celebrations.
