Why visit Saly?

Saly (also known as Saly Portudal, after a former Portuguese trading post on the site) is Senegal's best-known beach resort, on the Petite Côte south of Dakar. The resort was purpose-built starting in 1984 on previously vacant land near the old trading post, aimed at French and Belgian tourists seeking winter sun, and it remains the country's most developed beach destination, with hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, and a marina lining its sandy beach.
