Salikégné is a small village in Kolda department, Kolda Region, in Upper Casamance near the Guinea-Bissau border, with around 686 inhabitants. It was founded by Mandinka settlers around 1900; its name is said to derive from "Sali" (prayer) and "Kégno" (sand). It was elevated to commune status in 2008. The local economy revolves around small commerce, market gardening, textile dyeing, vegetable processing, and soap making, and the surrounding valley has notably dense vegetation for the Sudano-Guinean climate typical of the Kolda region.
