Dabo is a small commune in Upper Casamance, in Kolda department, situated on national road N6 between Kolda and Vélingara, close to the Guinea-Bissau border. It was elevated to commune status in July 2008 and has a population of under 2,000. The surrounding Dabo classified forest covers about 13,300 hectares of open forest and wooded savannah. The area has faced significant water-infrastructure challenges, with among the lowest rates of piped water access in Senegal.
