Sébikhotane is a town in the Rufisque department of the Dakar region, about 45 km east of central Dakar and near Blaise Diagne International Airport and the new Diamniadio development. It was founded by Serer settlers in 1736; a Catholic seminary was established here in 1911, and the town gained commune status in 1996. The surrounding population is mainly composed of farmers and farm workers.
