About River Doree
River Doree is a small agricultural community in the Choiseul district of Saint Lucia, situated in a river valley in the interior hills above the southwestern coast. The name, meaning "Golden River" in French, refers to the river that flows through the valley. The community is primarily a farming settlement, with banana, cocoa, and coconut plantations covering the surrounding hillsides.
The landscape is characterised by the steep-sided river valley with lush tropical vegetation, including secondary forest and cultivated land. The community has a small population spread across the valley, connected by narrow roads and footpaths. River Doree is known in the local area for its cocoa production, with several small farms producing beans for Saint Lucia's growing artisanal chocolate industry.
