About Lysva

Lysva is a small industrial town in Perm Krai located on the Lysva River, a tributary of the Kama, approximately 170 kilometres northeast of Perm. Founded in 1741 as an ironworks settlement, the town has been associated with metalworking and the production of household items, particularly the famous Lysva enamelled metalware that became a household name across Russia. The surrounding landscape is heavily forested with boreal taiga, and the town sits in a valley surrounded by low Ural hills.

With a population of roughly 55,000, Lysva is a quiet, off-the-beaten-path destination with a strong industrial heritage. The climate is continental, with cold winters (minus 20 to minus 30 degrees Celsius) and warm summers (18 to 25 degrees Celsius). The town is known for the Lysva Metalware Factory, which has been producing enamelled pots, pans, and decorative items since the 18th century, and for its scenic setting along the river valley.
