Why visit Gura Humorului?

Gura Humorului is a town in Suceava county, northeastern Romania, situated in Southern Bukovina. The town itself is less notable than the surrounding painted monasteries, but it serves as an excellent base for visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Painted Monasteries of Bucovina. The scenery around Gura Humorului is very beautiful, with forested hills and river valleys. The town has a population of approximately 13,000 and sits at an elevation of about 480 metres along the Humor River.

Gura Humorului's economy is largely driven by tourism, particularly day-trippers visiting the nearby Voronet and Humor monasteries. The climate is continental with warm summers and cold winters. The town is well connected to Suceava and the surrounding monasteries by both bus and train.
